I'm no coffee connoisseur, but like any new mom I'm hugely appreciative of it in general. I especially appreciate that we have a Starbucks a block and a half away from our apartment, and that when I order a venti or an extra shot the baristas immediately look at Mollie and tell her to give me a break.
But when we do venture further than a block away, we have some pretty great options in Alexandria for impressive java. Swing's in Del Ray has a cupping lab, and we thought it'd be fun to go one day. We expected a short lecture or something, but ended up having a pretty in-depth class with a small group of very knowledgable coffee lovers. We smelled, stirred, and sipped our way through lots of varieties, while Mollie put in her two cents and tried to talk over the owners.
