Friday thanks

I don't know about you, but I feel like almost every single week lately ends with me crashing by Friday. I'm tired and desperate for the weekend, and shouting TGIF to anyone I see (or wearing it on my clothes). But when I look back, the days themselves are good! Long and tiring, but good. They're usually full of little things that make me smile but don't translate well into "So what did you do today?" answers...which is maybe why it's hard to feel like I've accomplished much. But at the end of each day we've been fed, our house is clean, and we're all smiling. It's good to remember that.

Anyway, here are things from the week that made me smile:

Darcy creeping on Poppy (aka her main competition). Both of these dogs get a lot of love from Mollie, but Darcy's still winning. 

I'm sorry for the less-than-appealing picture, but this pie. Gott im himmel, this pie. Clara made it and told me to make it, but I foolishly procrastinated. Then my mom made it and told me to make it, but I still didn't. Then Will turned the big 3-0 and I finally made it...and it's amazing and we've been eating it all week. Layers on layers of not overly sweet chocolate with perfectly different textures. I've probably eaten it at every hour of the day by this time. It'd be great for Valentine's Day!

These cheap-o feathers that Mollie tore from one of her books (sorry, slightly mangled angel wings) - because I peeked into her room and saw her quietly blowing them and watching the waft around and it was the cutest. 

This pillow - because I was getting bored by our bedding and it's cured me. Extra points for costing less than even the cost of shipping for new sheets or a duvet cover.
