1600 Penn Ave

You know how it rained all last week? I'm completely at peace with it, because in return, we have had the most gorgeous weekend in memory.  Fall is here!  Well done, DC!

Yesterday we took advantage of it by going to the White House for the Garden Tour.  Two weekends a year (once in April, and once in October) the grounds are open to the public and you can get really close to the White House, Rose Garden, Oval Office, etc.  How close?  This close:

So that's fun.  We went with Meghan, Joe, and Alice, and had a grand old time.

Today is just as beautiful, and I'm going to put some chili on the stove, then go and read Mark Helprin in our sunny courtyard.  I hope I don't forget the chili...but I wouldn't be surprised if I did.  It's too lovely to stay inside.  Happy Sunday!

  2. I thought the same yesterday here in Paris - it's too sublime a weather to stay indoors. Hope the chili was good;-)
