you know what would make this more fun?

...having this guy sleeping on my lap right now:

Friends, I need a puppy. And I'm not even being (too) ridiculous...Will does too. We need one. I mean, maybe not for a few more months, but it's time to start brainstorming right? After all, we need to find one that doesn't shed too much, will be satisfied with not a lot of exercise (but can still keep up on walks and short runs), is people and pet-friendly, isn't from a breed with health problems, isn't hyperactive, and is smart.........and cute. Is that too much to ask for?

  1. I recommend a cocker spaniel. Weighing in at around 30 pounds, they're a great option for apartment/city living. Frazier, our 6 year old, can keep up on a 2-mile run, but he doesn't require a ton of exercise nor a ton of food. They LOVE to cuddle, are adorable, and don't shed much - they do require grooming, but if you're a do-it-yourself-er, you can get clippers at Walmart for $30 that last for at least 6 months rather than paying the groomer $60 every 8 weeks. Honestly, I love the breed! But do be ware - getting a dog around here can be expensive. Vets in this area are R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S. We found a vet in Vienna that we love (so if you want a referral, let me know). The vet is very open to outsourcing services to more affordable vets. For example, a surgery our 10 year old cocker needed was going to cost $3,000 here. We flew the dog home over Christmas and had the surgery done for $300 in NE. If you want to experience the adorable-ness and lovable-ness of the cocker spaniel breed first-hand, let me know! :)

  2. might I suggest a chia pet? I can't think of a living thing that would fill your needs. :)
