The way back also took at least 2 hours more than it should have...so today I'm simultaneously feeling tired, and like I need to move around a bit. The solution? My new friend, the New York City Ballet Workout dvd.
I had the amazing tenacity to stick with ballet for 1 whole month when I was little. [I was more into gymnastics, where energy could often make up for technical deficiencies.] But since then, I've been sad that I didn't last longer. I love watching ballerinas; their combination of power and restraint is uncommon. And they're so easy to spot, with their trademark posture. Nevermind the fact that I chose to start slouching when I was an obnoxiously tall 7th grader...I still tell myself that I would have perfect posture if I had taken more ballet.

All this to say that I impulsively bought this dvd a few weeks ago, and I've been loving it. The classical music and slower pace means that the workout is actually relaxing, but you can still feel that your muscles are working and stretching. This also makes it the perfect solution to my current need to stop sitting, and also go to bed soon. I'm a fan of that.
this looks amazing! so sad i missed seeing you this weekend, but i hope it was fun, despite the travel difficulties. :)
ReplyDeleteAnna.. you have inspired me and I have added this to my netflix que = )
ReplyDeleteWait, wait, wait. I HAVE to do this with you. I did ballet for 11 years. Um, scratch our movie date...let's have a workout date!
ReplyDeletehaha...Jenna, it's less of actual ballet, and more the workouts that ballerinas do. So lots of floor barre and stretching and abs and really simple plies, etc. I wouldn't be able to do it if it were real ballet, I don't think :). So you can do it with me if you want, but we still have to go laugh at Bridesmaids too, please! :)
