The goal that's been getting a little more attention lately is...I hesitate to even say it..."getting in new shape". As I've mentioned, after doing basketball, volleyball, and track through junior high and high school, I became a hammer and javelin thrower in college. Meaning all cardio activity came to a screeching halt. I traded running laps for lifting reps, and hill workouts for medicine ball plyos. The longest distance I ran was from one end of the javelin runway to the other. I had what we affectionately call "thunder thighs".
[Proof, with some of my favorite thrower girls of all time. I'm the one with the mint green jav (I miss it!) and my mouth open reeeeaaally wide.]
Anyway, maybe it's spring finally being here, but I really miss track. I miss competitions, and long bus rides, and most of all, my awesome teammates. But since I can't have any of those, I've decided to reclaim the one thing I could still have...that completely exhausted and sore feeling you get after a good workout. I've started running again for the first time in years. I'm not going to abuse my body like I did when I was throwing [my back is finally healed!], but a little soreness in legs is a familiar feeling. And (at least for now), I like how it feels.
Anna! i couldn't agree with you more!
