You know what's great? Having friends who are smart, talented, funny, caring individuals to serve as a constant source of inspiration. I feel like I have friends like this all around me, but right now I'd like to point our collective attention to Scott, and his current adventure.
Scott (and two of his friends) are starting out on a bike ride. A long one. In Japan. Yes, that Japan. The three of them decided a few months ago to take off and cycle the length of Japan, from the southern tip to the northern tip. After the recent tragedy, they quickly decided to turn this adventure into a way to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. They will be footing the cost of the trip themselves, and giving any donations that they raise to Samaritan's Purse and the American Red Cross to provide relief directly. Their goal is to raise $1 for every kilometer that they'll cycle - or $10,000.
They're already close to reaching half of their goal, which speaks to the desperate need recognized by all in this disaster. Please, please consider donating whatever you can to this worthy endeavor...and pass it on!
And, because Scott's probably more persuasive than I am:
You can learn more about it and follow their whole trip here.
