"O tannenbaum..."

My family has always had beautiful Christmas trees. Our living room has a huge beamed ceiling, so we can get trees as tall and fat as we want (and we like our Christmas trees both very tall and very fat, thank you very much.) I love decorating it together, I love looking at all the funny old ornaments, and I love the way it makes the house smell. So getting a Christmas tree of my own this year was obviously a necessity...but also sort of daunting. There was no way a 6 foot tree was going to fit in my elevator and little apartment, so I had reconciled myself to getting a fake one [nooooo]. But then Will wanted to go Whole Foods [love]....

...and they had the MOST PERFECT baby Frasier Firs! I was so happy...I carried it around and looked like a fool, but now look at how happy he is!

And I got him a gold paper star garland from Ten Thousand Villages on the way home:

Very successful. Oh, and that's my dining room in the first picture! It looks very bare right now, sans rug and more things on the wall. I blew up a photo that I took of poppies at home (I love poppies!) but I need more. Pictures, I mean. And I suppose poppies. Oh, and my mocha and snack seem to have made it in the picture too...that's a bowl of pomegranate seeds, which I also find very Christmasy, though I don't know why.

Anyway, a very good Saturday.

  1. OOOOHHHHH NANA IT IS PERFECT!!! And the poppies are lovely. Everything is lovely. Including you... why aren't YOU in any of the pictures? I miss your face. :-)

P.S. I think I might make you my interior decorator when it is my turn to be all grown up. Or you can at least guide me, oh wise one.
