aloha...after the fact.

So I've decided to wait and see how the pictures from our photographer turn out to give the blow-by-blow for the wedding. I'm very excited about that. But in the meantime, I'd already like to re-live our days in paradise, and since we were our own photographers, there's no hold-up! Onward! First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to my aunt and uncle, Janice and Fritz, for letting us use their fantastic condo in Kauai. It was absolutely perfect...if any of you are thinking about a vacation, you couldn't do better than rent their place on the north shore (let me know if you're interested - I'll get you the info!). Seriously. Let me prove it. Here's our view from the balcony, and our backdrop for lots of morning coffee, lunches, cocktails, and a pretty good game of Scrabble:

And the tennis courts, where old men hooted and hollered at my tennis skirt, and Will beat me three days in a row, and we agreed for the thousandth time that 1. we have gotten significantly better and 2. we should probably still get lessons:

[Speaking of tennis, Federer and Djokovic are playing the best game I've seen in a long time at the US Open right now. The crowd is crazy, and I'm sitting in my apartment yelling at my computer, and occasionally calling Will so we can both scream. GO FED!]

I thought this sign was hilarious (and kind of creepy), and everyone ignored it. You have to have alcohol at the pool, especially when you come across horribly trashy frozen lemonades and margaritas that come in little bags at the funny Hawaiian Walmart. I'm not proud to say that we actually went back there to get more halfway through the week:

And then the pool itself. Awesome rock bottom, salt water instead of chemicals, and frankly, I'm rather emotionally attached to it. When our flight home was cancelled and we had an extra day, we remembered that we had left our bathing suits in the dryer at the condo. We had time to go back for them, so we did, with me getting mopier the closer we got. "It's going to be SO depressing to just drive to the lobby, and drive away! We don't live their anymore! It'll be a tease! I can't handle it!" [I sound very stable, ja?] So when we got there, I stayed in the car like a little kid, and Will got out to explain about our extra day and forgetting the bathing suits. Immediately the awesome staff [I'm going to keep plugging this place for awhile] handed him two towels and told us to go relax by the pool for as long as we wanted. I'm going to censor my reaction, but it involved lots of clapping. Mahalo!

Just looking back at these pictures puts me in a happy place. But now I have to go cheer for Federer! I'll have some less boring and self-indulgent stories soon. Happy weekend!
