I was thinking the other morning that when you marry someone, you have no idea what you'll eventually be asking of them. In your vows you promise generally to be true to each other in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, etc. But you don't know what's in the cards exactly. You can't choose to pair yourself with someone based on how they've handled scenarios that haven't happened yet. I'd never have guessed that at this point in our lives I would already have asked so much of Will. Heartbreaking loss, health issues, being basically incapacitated for months - he's been put through some serious tests already. But while I couldn't have known exactly how he'd handle each obstacle, I knew before any of them happened that I'd be able to count on him completely.
All this to say, here's to a man who made me have crazy high expectations, and has blown even those out of the water. I'm so blessed to be your girl. Happy birthday, and here's to the best year yet!
