We got some snow yesterday, and while it didn't stick around for long, it did give us snow light. Snow light is my absolute favorite - the cool, bright light of sun reflecting off of snow - it's basically the thing that makes long Michigan winters bearable. It also makes me appreciate our big windows in this apartment...and then made me realize I hadn't shared any pictures of this "new" place yet.
Here's the living room:
It opens right up to the street, which is a huge game-changer with a dog. Sometimes I can't believe how many flights of stairs we had to rush up and down with a not-quite-housetrained puppy who was still too little to climb the stairs herself. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but it was.....memorable.
Our dining table is in between the living room and kitchen. Several walls still need art (I hung up one picture immediately after taking these photos), but this is the most obvious. Still brainstorming what we'd like best here:
And the kitchen, which is approximately 12 times bigger than our last one. The first time I was able to cook in it I wouldn't shut up about "counter space! cupboard storage!" and the memory of our last kitchen shrunk Alice in Wonderland-style, in which it's a wonder one person could even stand in it, let alone cook anything.
Maybe some orientation time? The door to the far right in the picture above leads to the interior building hallway. There's a second bath to its left, and Mollie's room is to its right. Sadly, hers is the only room with no windows, so picture in there are sort of unattractive (but I'll still take some and show them soon). And if you look back at the first picture of the living room, our bedroom and bathroom are to the left. Confused yet? Fortunately, it doesn't actually matter. There's no quiz. Here's a picture:
The wall across from our bed is clearly another wall that needs art, but the dining room one bugs me more so it gets priority. And an orchid has come to live on our window sill, because I realized it's the only spot in the house that gets any sort of "direct" light...though its time in the living room may have already killed it. Mollie has a little bassinet on my side of the bed for now, which best allows her weird grunting to wake us up at night.
Any suggestions for the bare wall by the dining table? It's kind of crazy to think this is the third home Will and I have had together already!
Looks like a home! Your decorating sense is lovely. How about some handmade artwork for that dining room wall? Here are some I've wanted to try:
