I found this list format on one of my favorite blogs a while ago, and it definitely fits the bill for today.
Making: the new apartment feel like ours...slowly.
Drinking: chocolate almond milk.
Reading: Team of Rivals: The Political Greatness of Abraham Lincoln...because it's been on my "to-read" list since college.
Wanting: to go for a walk in our pretty fall neighborhood.
Looking: at absurdly fat birds in the tree outside our bedroom. The neighbor feeds them, and then they come use our tree as a trampoline and make the branches bounce.
Playing: crosswords...getting better, but I'm still convinced people younger than 40 are at a serious disadvantage.
Wasting: time trying to find the right rocking chair for the baby's room. At least it feels like a waste of time, because I'm failing. Dang companies know that moms need them and they can afford to charge exorbitantly...I feel like I'm being held for ransom.
Sewing: a very belated present...once I can figure out where it went in the move.
Enjoying: feeling baby hiccup for the first time! It's much less intense than her aggressive kicking :).
Waiting: for 37 weeks. Come onnnnnn, 37. Woohoo!
Liking: Will teaching me about all of the nuances of baseball.
Wondering: what our baby will look like.
Loving: weekend mornings when we can all sleep in together and chat about sleepy, slow things.
Marveling: at the fact that there is always encouragement for my faith to be stronger...and hoping I remember to go looking for it.
Needing: Tums. At least pregnancy heartburn can be kept in check with something yummy.
Smelling: an apple-cinnamony candle Will brought me that makes me so excited for the holidays.
Wearing: yoga pants and slippers, which have to constantly be kept away from Darcy. She doesn't eat them; she just wants them all for herself.
Thinking: about baby names, and only convincing myself that we'll come up with something completely wrong.
Bookmarking: information about infant vaccines (oh hey, hot topic).
Opening: and closing the front door for a dog who wants to patrol the sidewalk and make new friends.
Feeling: tired, but peaceful.

re: rockers.... get a swivel glider, slipcovered. I have connections. email me. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had the haaaaarrrdest time finding a rocker. Here's the thing: they're either uncomfortable to sit in for more than five minutes (no) or fuuugly (no). (sorry, I hate the glider look.) So we went without for the first three months, but spent basically all of that time on our yoga ball until we tried a rocker and Emma fell asleep and we changed our minds and decided we needed one NOW.
We ended up getting this glider from Crate and Barrel and loooooove it.

It is slipcovered (we have spruce), which is important, but we like that it looks like an actual chair, and is a piece of furniture that a) doesn't scream NURSERY and b) we would actually keep in our house, which helped with absorbing the price. We also found some sympathetic relatives to contribute to the funding.
