ramblings - 10.13.13

- Grey and Scout is my new favorite go-to for pretty images...I've recognized that I like to start my day looking at beautiful things more than getting frustrated with the news (though I need to read that too - it's just more of an afternoon thing after my brain has warmed up and I can get properly frustrated).

- Our new place is less than a block from a Starbucks - I get giddy when I think about being able to walk there with a stroller and Darcy! For now I'm just giddy when Will brings me a mocha...coffee tastes good again and I missed it.

- I still laugh when I say it, but I joined a fantasy football league this year. I really like watching football, but in the past I'd generally bow out after a few hours to go walk or read outside. However, since I'm confined to the couch (in front of the tv) this year, I decided to embrace it and get invested. Now I have something to get my competitive juices flowing, and Will can be entertained by me groaning about injuries and agonizing about waiver wire decisions - everyone's happy! Plus it's a league of Hillsdale alums and the team names alone were enough to convince me (Hillsdale puns were mandatory).

- We (I say "we," but obviously it's almost entirely Will with me doing a tiny bit every once in a while) have made huge progress unpacking this weekend. The main areas are now liveable and it's easier to assess what we need and where things will eventually land. Decorating a new place is one of my most favorite things, but I'm trying to remind myself that it will be a long-term project this time around, and to stay patient. The aesthetic change also probably won't be as dramatic as I'd normally pursue, just because we're now around the three month countdown for a more dramatic life change. But that's all right. And in the meantime, we can hide any not-yet-tackled boxes in the nursery. Hooray for an extra room!

- And ending on a question: what's your favorite place to find artwork? If I could wave a magic wand I'd be in Allen, MI ("Antique Capital of the World") perusing antiques with the ladies of my family for a weekend...but that will have to wait. For now, I have the Internet and you guys! Help help, bitte and danke.

  1. Can you drink coffee?? Lucky duck. I only regained that ability late into the second trimester, and with plenty of sugar to compensate. New place? Hooray! I'll need a new address. :)
