go to your happy place

Everyone has places that they love to go, and others can't understand why. My weekend so far has consisted of two of these places.

My awesome friend Grennes' birthday was on Wednesday, and last night we went to her beloved Recessions. This place is SWEET...though not everyone finds the huge basement, fake rock walls, and weird carpeting appealing. I myself found the ridiculously cheap beer and enthusiastic karaoke VERY appealing...so appealing that I sort of returned to college-days drinking levels for the night. Also, seeing one of my friends belt every single word of "We Didn't Start the Fire" with his eyes closed was pretty inspiring.

Yesterday belonged to Misha's. This is a bizarre, technicolor, hipster-heaven of a coffee shop. One room is almost taken over by bags of what I presume to be coffee beans...but I would definitely not bet on that. The baristas are coffee snobs in bandanas with a whole lot of attitude. Dylan, Josiah, Will and I camped out there for 4 hours...carpeting our entire floor with discarded newspapers, swapping books, and getting really frustrated with crosswords [at one point the phrase "Are you saying this crossword determines my manhood?!?" was uttered.].

Now if we could all just circle back to the first full paragraph of this post, I'd like to draw your attention to something life-changing. Grennes has already been mentioned on this blog, in regards to her awe-inspiring gift-giving abilities. Now, I would like to introduce her brand new money-saving blog Hoot and Dollar [best name ever?]. Grennes is a couponing genius...I've benefitted from her knack for getting great deals countless times...for example, I'm currently using a toothbrush that she got for free. Also, she loves owls, Indiana, the NFL, musicals, and other redheads. Check it out!
