ramblings - 5.4.14

- Despite not wearing contacts, I managed to spot what looked like a really sweet mirror on the side of the road as we were driving on Saturday. [Tangent: sidewalk/estate sales are amazing in Old Town...lots of wealthy older folk just wanting to make some more space in their houses. You don't even know.] We stopped, did some reconnaissance, determined that it was, in fact, pretty sweet, promised to return with cash, haggled about the price, and brought it home for $20. It's definitely a fixer-upper though...I'm excited to brainstorm the best refurbishing plan.

- I'm also very excited that I just spelled "reconnaissance" right on the first try.

- Even more excitement: Mollie is currently sleeping in her crib in her very own room for the second night in a row. This makes it sound like it's something we've been working on...in reality, I just liked her in the bassinet in our room. It was so cozy! But we tried the crib for the first time last night and it worked, so it doesn't really feel like we're allowed to backtrack at this point. (I only said I missed her a few times last night...mom hormones are ridiculous.)

- Later this week I'm driving with my angel of a cousin, fool of a dog, and handful of a baby to Michigan. I just feel like I need to verbalize and start wrapping my head around that.

- I currently have about three pounds of strawberries in my fridge - any suggestions for what to do with them? They're left over from these most deeeelicious margs we had at a Tres de Mayo brunch this weekend.

- And finally, here's a swan boat for you:

...and that's all that really needs to be said about that.

  1. Maybe cut some up and freeze them in ice cubes? They might work great for lemonade or a sparkling beverage later.
