ramblings - 5.29.14

I blame the weather. It's been so nice outside that Mollie and I have been spending as much time as possible soaking up the sun...with the result that I'm not inside on my computer keeping up with zee blog. Which is no big deal, but I've realized that if I don't write things down I truly can't remember what I've been doing. (Last night I couldn't remember what we had for dinner a few hours later, for crying out loud.) And I want to remember, because life's been good! So I'm taking advantage of a rainy day to do a speedy catch-up.

Mollie had her first solid food! We mashed up some bananas one night after weeks of her lunging for whatever we're eating (and she's getting fast - I almost lost a cookie to her the other day). She was weirded out and made the classic "yucky" faces, but she's been more into it every time we try...and she's still trying to swipe whatever she can from our plates and hands:

And Darcy's a big fan of this whole process, since she gets the leftovers:

We celebrated Memorial Day weekend with a cookout with friends, and continued our tradition of going to the military cemetery across the street to lay flowers. As always, it makes me so proud of our  country, and my friends and family who are continuing to sacrifice for our freedom.

Betraying my nerdy side, but I've recently discovered the Hillsdale Dialogues, and they're fantastic. They're mini-lectures on the Great Books and historical figures, and they're really well done. Will and I especially love that we can hear our favorite professors discuss topics that we didn't take with them in school. On a more basic level, they keep me from feeling like my brain is turning to mush while I do chores around the house.

And as a non-conclusion, Mollie's bipolar personality keeps us entertained all day:
...as do her ears. Look at those guys!
