change of plans

One thing I didn't mention in my earlier medical post is how quickly things can change. Oops! I spent Saturday-Wednesday in the hospital this week to get some contractions under control, and it was really reassuring to see how prepared the high risk prenatal wing is to deal with this condition long-term. We'd obviously like to stay out of the hospital for a good while, but it's comforting that we are close to such expertise if it's needed.

I'm home now and on medicine and strict bed rest (this Pinterest picture is misleading...I'm not supposed to sit up more than 30 degrees). We don't know how long the bed rest will be necessary, but it is so good to be home. Darcy and I were veryveryvery happy to see each other.

Also, having your second anniversary in the hospital isn't the most romantic thing ever - but it's a good reminder that love sometimes looks like two people sitting in a hospital bed to share a breakfast. There's no one I'd rather share my cafeteria pancakes with than you, love.

    1. As my mom pointed out, an introverted bookworm might be better suited to this than other people :). What Graham Greene did you suggest a while ago? I'm reading Our Man in Havana right now and loving it!

  2. Hi Anna,

I'm glad you're back at home now and doing better. My mom found out she had the same issue when she was pregnant with me. I tried to arrive 13 weeks early, which left her on bed rest for ten weeks (all with two little boys running around the house). At the end of the ten weeks, she went in for a check-up and I was born--fat and happy! They prescribed her a glass of red wine a day, but I'm guessing things are a little different now... :)

I hope things go smoothly for the rest of the pregnancy, and I hope you won't have to be in bed for that long. But even if you do, I am sure you will handle it gracefully!

Blessings to you, Will and baby!

    1. Thanks, Kate! So glad there are so many happy stories like yours! I'll likely be on bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy...so about 20 weeks if the baby comes a little early :)
