Fiscally responsible and convenient, it really was a smart purchase. But he couldn't have predicted that I would become so attached to its basil-ness that I would pull myself together and not let it die when it first threatened to (as has happened with many indoor plants in the past). I went after it with a strict water/sun/shade regimen, and we pulled through. There are enough leaves now to keep the plant looking respectable after spontaneous pizzas, sandwiches, pasta salads...and the occasional leaf snatching for no other reason except that I love how crushed basil smells (like summer and rain on cut grass...I also always think of tomatoes and jazz, but that's harder to defend). I keep moving it from the window to my kitchen counter - for the sun/shade of course - but mostly because I love how the smell wafts when I tote it around. I'm thinking of maybe making some basil earrings. What? Is that a problem?

I love basil too:-) But my absolutely favorite spice is garlic! It smells and tastes soooo good*.*:-)
