I can honestly say that figuring out the invites was one of the most fun projects so far. I say that because they caused very little personal stress*, and they turned out exactly like I imagined them.
Alice Victoria Jane is, as I have expressed, rather brilliant...and she can also read my mind, which makes projects like this easier. I didn't have to use many words. So nice. I think I said "big peony, pretty script, navy, light grey, coral, and raised typeface." She put this into grids and numbers and graphic design-speak and made it happen. She also taught me the word "thermography", which I then used liberally.
In record time, she gave me these**:
And like I said, they're everything I hoped for. So talented! Now here's hoping the rest of the wedding falls into place as beautifully...
[*I am not delusional, however, about the stress that they caused other people (namely Lalice and my parents), and to them I am very, very grateful. Danke schön!]
[**Yes, I did make up an address and put it on this envelope. One of the things I was set on was addressing all of my invites myself, and using white ink on dark grey envelopes. And if I had blurred a real address out (so that a criminal didn't track it down, I suppose? Not nice to force that on friends.), the picture simply wouldn't have been as pretty. Sloppy logic? Perhaps.]
I totally noticed the made-up address. No way, I thought, there is NOT a Whimsey Drive in Hillsdale that I didn't know about for four years.
ReplyDeleteLovely. :)
