beauty...and the beast.

I give up. Do you ever have days (weeks) when you're just struggling in the appearance department? I mean, I generally don't get too hung up on how I look, but lately I feel like I need to apologize to the world when I go out in public. ["Beautiful morning today sun...sorry to be a blight on the earth for you! No no don't go away! I'm sorry...I'll go inside! Cuss - it's too late...the sun's already hiding." That's right D.C. I'm the reason we've had nothing but grey sky for so long.]

Anyway, I'm losing my mind a bit trying to grow out my hair, my skin is all messed up from months of winter air, and I happened to wear something unflattering and only mildly comfortable today for work [as I've said, I'm fine with sacrificing looks for coziness sometimes...but I have to be really cozy.] Blah. If I could wave a magic wand, something like this would happen:

I would have worn this:

these:

Oh and I would have my Blake Lively hair back:

And definitely this Stella and Dot necklace that I've been coveting for awhile:

That would do nicely. Oh wait...except that I'm still in the same position I was in earlier, but now armed with a delusional wishlist. Hmm. This doesn't seem to have worked as I had hoped. I guess the best I can do is make myself get off my couch and go work out, and at least pick out a better outfit for work tomorrow. After that, I'll just have to rely on either being 1) excessively charming or 2) distractingly clumsy, both in an effort to distract people from what I actually look like. Here goes!

[p.s. Does anyone have any quick fixes for the aforementioned problems? Solutions in the forms of massages and cocktails are also accepted.]

  1. well since I can't give you a massage or buy you a drink....I'll suggest 1.) an invisibility cloak or 2.) the sunglasses that the adorable little boy wears in Big Daddy to make him feel invisible. Either one would do the trick quite nicely, I think....but I'm leaning more toward the latter because you look cute in sunglasses

  2. ugh winter skin. i know what you mean. i like to use mary kay's moisture rich mask (or one of their mask equivalents if you have normal or oily skin). it always makes me feel like i'm starting out fresh. oh and added bonus that foundation goes on like a DREAM after using it. :)

  3. I can totally relate. Wearing a hoodie today. It's super cozy, so it's worth it. But yesterday, I wore a sweater that was only sort of cozy and looked terrible. Then I just FELT terrible. Hence the all-out cozy today.

But I would gladly trade it for that dress!!!

  5. I pretend that nobody can see me. If it worked when I was three (which it did), why shouldn't it now, right? ...right...?
