Today was cold and rainy...the kind of day that I love, but that makes it hard for me not to run away from work and get back in bed and read. But while I was dutifully being an editing ninja (hiiiii-YA!), I daydreamed about what I wanted to be eating. Last week I went to a Greek restaurant with a bunch of friends, and had a delicious, simple, lemon-chicken-orzo soup. [It really was simple - I basically just listed all of the ingredients in the made-up title]. Since lemon is my FAVORITE FLAVOR OF ALL TIME (I was actually od'ing on lemon drops at work as I picked it out), I was obviously a fan. So I made it for dinner tonight, and Will, Dave, and I thought it was a success. Unfortunately I couldn't find the restaurant's exact recipe online, but the basic idea can be found here: http://www.rachaelraymag.com/Recipes/rachael-ray-magazine-recipes/rachael-ray-30-minute-meals/Greek-Lemon-and-Orzo-Soup
(I added chicken, carrots, and onions to make it a little less plain...but it's the eggs that give it an amazingly good texture).
I'm a horribly unimaginative chef in general, so if you have any favorite recipes please pass them along! It'll save me from my general diet, which consists almost entirely of hummus and naan. [yay for repeating letters!]
