epic success

Ok, full disclosure. I may have talked this up a little too much. But the fact is, I have been living in my apartment for two months now with no real coffee table, and no dining room table. This led to a LOT of eating on my bed, which I don't like, and some eating on my rug, which I like even less. Also, I got my walls painted the most beautiful shade of grey [happiness!], and then covered one up with an extra box spring for two months [ugliness!]. So I've been feeling a little unsettled, to say the least.

So, after weeks and weeks of frustrating craigslist leads and disappointments, I was about to just go pay an exorbitant amount for a dining room table in a store. Then, the stars aligned and I found one 10 minutes away for UBER cheap. I woke up early on Saturday morning [defying the number of drinks I had had the night before], rolled/heaved/scooted/kicked the box spring decoration to the dumpster, and went and collected my prize. The man raised an eyebrow when I said it was going to fit it in the back of my convertible. I scoffed. I was right. Nothing could stop me! I had a table! (and chairs!)

After that I was so proud that I cleaned, went on a run, and watched football/napped for about 6 hours. I actually don't remember much else.

Ok I'm sure you're just bored to death by now so I'll cut to Sunday night around 6 when I was walking around Alexandria and BLAMMO!!! Ok, "blammo" might not be accurate, because it was an elegant old lady supervising the unloading of a bunch of her furniture on the sidewalk. In about 15 minutes (and after an aggressive stand-off with a fellow scavenger) I was driving away with a GORGEOUS coffee table (probably worth about $400) for FREE. So now I am just sitting in my fantastically furnished apartment feeling very pleased. And I promise not to put you through too much more of this. But come on, total success.
