the friendly snow monster

At first, Mollie wasn't quite sure what to do with the snow:

Rookie. But we got more than two feet of it in about a day, so she became a pro pretty quickly.

It was so fun to finally get serious snow this winter! We were nervous about losing power - the power company was actually calling customers to warn them it'd be out for days. Power out for days...temps in the 20s...a very vocal toddler...enough to strike fear into the heart of this hormonal lady, for sure.

But! We didn't lose it! Instead we just watched insane amounts of snow bury our street. We played with flashlights that were thankfully unnecessary, as the night outside glowed in the way it only does while snowing. The streets were impassable, and the lack of traffic created a heavy, peaceful silence. Once the snow finally stopped, neighbors dug their way out of their houses to release pent-up energy shoveling the huge drifts. We used the streets as sidewalks to trudge to friends' houses and the grocery store, for crucial cookie-making ingredients. We took long naps, read, and drank a lot of hot chocolate...though Mollie prefers hers "so warm" - not "too hot!"

In short, we were forced to slow down, and loved it. Snowzilla 2016 turned out to be a very friendly snow monster indeed.
