Anna: "I can't believe she's one already! She was so cute and tiny that first day and I missssss it."
Will: "You can't believe it's her birthday? Did you not see this coming? Also, it's probably a good thing that she's growing up. She's getting way more fun."
I'm going to do the normal month update in a couple of days (more sentimentality when I think of seeing all of the pictures in a row), so for now here's a photo dump from her birthday party. It was a low-key get together where the kiddos played, and the adults drank mimosas and watched Mollie contemplate a cupcake.
I was planning on making all-vanilla cupcakes with pansies on top because I thought they would be the cutest...but then I remembered that chocolate > cute and went with these instead.
She heavy-breathes on candles to try to blow them out and it's my favorite.
Ok, this picture is totally misleading, but I love it. Most of the time she just stared at the cupcake, then seemed concerned about the frosting melting on her hand, then faked us out by looking like she was going to face plant in it, and then got distracted and wanted to get down and play with the other kids. This smile is probably because we cheered for her, because she's the biggest ham there is.
About 6 adults tried, but not one of us got a picture with everyone looking at the camera.
I love that presents are totally unnecessary at this age! We did get her one though - a purple puppy named Poppy (10x fast) to which I'm hoping she becomes overly attached so that we can farm out some of the bedtime soothing (yes, to a stuffed animal).
Though I would have been fine with it coming later, January 10, 2015 was a pretty wonderful day. And January 11th has been great too, and I'm very confident in January 12th - because every day is grand with her. Happy birthday, Mollie Elisabeth!
