things I'm not cool enough to like

Things that I see on blogs/Instagram daily that I simply can't get on board with:

- Birkenstocks. First and foremost. They might be comfy (I mean, everyone in the world swears that they are, so I have no reason to doubt it), but when you have size 9.5 feet (on a good day) they just make you look like you have hobbit feet. Not hobbit hairy feet, just the size...I'm in danger of getting off track. Power to those who can wear them, but birks look horrible on me and I won't ever be able to sport that trend.

- Coconut water. I love water, and I love raw coconut. But never the two shall meet for me...it's just the opposite of refreshing. Even in Kauai I bought a whole coconut from the nice guy on the beach, ended up dumping out the water, and just ate the nut itself.

- Wall tapestries. Not all tapestries, but the particular boho style above - this gal does not see the appeal. I want to cut off those weird fringy things and make it symmetrical...and then probably still rip it all apart and use the thread for something else. Makes me twitchy.

- Cupcakes. I realize this trend is basically over, but I clearly still feel compelled to admit this for some reason. The cake part's usually dry and the frosting ratio is weird. Now cronuts on the other hand...I haven't had one, but croissants and donuts are my two favorites by far and I can only assume I would be driving that bandwagon if given the chance. And my driver's cap would have a little cronut on top.

- Succulents. This is a weird thing to have an aversion to, I admit. But I've just never been fond of them. (The name doesn't help.) I'm just an old-fashioned flower gal.

That was surprisingly cathartic - any of you feel like confessing your lack of cool?

  1. I also hate the berks. And those tapestries.

And I really, really, REALLY dislike patterned harem pants, unless we wear them in their proper place, which is as pajamas.

  3. I appreciate this. I don't see the appeal of female indie singers with wispy voices, aviators, fat-free coffee cream, bowling, and football games where I feel like a member of a restless herd. :).
