We're so, so lucky to have the Walshes within walking distance of the house. I mean, these two basically taught me to drink cocktails and smoke cigars in college (something for which my father has thanked them on multiple occasions). More substantively, they were like the big brother and sister of my dreams. Their apartment was the one place I was always up for going to, even if I had just gotten back from an exhausting track meet. And now we're godparents to each other's children, and their house is still the one place we'll rally and go to anytime for cocktails, cigars, and good talks...even if those now get wedged in between getting kids to bed.
As for the zoo trip itself, it was hot, some exhibits were closed, and we didn't see a whole lot of animals. But the babies cooperated and the moms got Dippin' Dots, so it was a success! We'll definitely be going back again on a cooler day...partly because Mollie needs more excuses to wear her awesome giraffe skirt from her Aunt Katie:
