My mom's collection of vintage tablecloths provokes something dangerously close to covetousness in me...much too close to bear discussion on the week of Thanksgiving, anyway. But I love them and their cheerful patterns because they instantly separated holiday tables from everyday meals. And while who's sitting at the table is obviously most significant, I think it goes quite a way in keeping them there if the table is festive...and the after-dinner conversations are always the best, right? Maybe it's the months of eating meals on the couch getting to me, but those hours around a pretty table stand out as one of my favorite things about the holidays - and I'm not even talking about the food.

Apartment 34, purple seems to be catching my eye. I think it's my favorite paired with the raspberry accents, but I'm sure I could find good combinations year round if I find something too good to pass up in the post-Thanksgiving sales!
