cheers!

My birthday is this week!  [Please note, this is very different than saying "This is my birthday week."  That's just getting greedy, friends.]  I don't know if it's the celebratory mood, or the evaluation that comes with turning another year older, but I've decided it's time to make one more change around here.

I originally chose das ist Gemütlichkeit because I just love the word (and let's be honest...I was coming off of a few years of German and my brain was a happy Deutsch mess).  I think I've said it before, but it basically means happiness, friendliness, coziness, and a feeling of belonging.  It's brilliant, and basically all that I want for this place......but it's also almost impossible to spell and pronounce.  Not especially user-friendly; most people resort to saying something like "ga-moot-lee-hook"......which I might actually enjoy more.

But after a lifetime of teaching people how to spell and say my long German last name, I knew that at some point it's just easier to go ahead and marry a simple English name.  And that simply English name (or rather, the boy who belongs to it) calls me something that also makes me think of happiness, friendliness, coziness, and a feeling of belonging.  And it doesn't have an umlaut.

So welcome to Anna-bird!  To simplify things, you can now just go to www.anna-bird.com.  And nothing else is changing...you can still expect the same silly sights, domestic delights, and fancy fluff.  [Oh, and random German words, when I remember them.]  Cheers, friends!
