- Today is the feast day of my patron saint, St. Margaret of Scotland. She was an English princess before she landed, exiled, on the coast of Scotland. The Scottish king was very hospitable...in fact, so hospitable that he married her. She was known for her piety (reforming the Catholic church in Scotland and welcoming the first Benedictines), charity (the tales say that she always fed the poor before dining herself), and fervor for education (I may have initially been drawn to her because she's often holding a book, now that I think of it). She helped her husband to be a wise and just ruler, and raised many children to do the same. I'm rather fond of her. You should look her up, if your interest is piqued.
- Clara is first team All-Region! This won't mean a lot to people who don't follow volleyball, but it's a pretty big deal, and awesome news going into the play-off season. I'm so proud of her and her team - go Chargers!
- I crave Chipotle's chips every single day. It's such a problem. But they're so addictive...what is it that makes them so good? The chip itself? The salt? The lime? We were talking about that with our priest during our marriage prep one day this summer [What? Is that not one of the normal topics in such counseling?], and he said without missing a beat: "It's probably just crack. There's no other explanation." [And the other couples always looked so confused about why we'd be laughing so hard as we came out of his office...]
- I'd like a small part of out apartment to paint this color:
It's just great. Our style is generally reserved, which makes pops of color like this practically irresistible. Maybe if we stay in this apartment for more than two more months I'll give in and paint a wall in the hallway...
- Growing up, I remember my parents drinking tea before bed regularly. When I was staying up wicked late to finish some ignored homework, I'd do the same, but with caffeinated tea to stay awake. This is not the same thing. I've only recently discovered the joy of drinking some mint or chamomile tea as a transition towards bed, and it's delightful. In fact, I'm going to go do that now.

Love the punch of black under the sink in such a cheery room! Very balancing.

I agree, Caitlin! Keeps it looking classy instead of cartoonish.
