I'm so grateful to my family and friends who rallied together and made my vague vision a reality. There will be more pictures and details to come, but for now, we're a bit swamped with work and moving and trying to get everything all buttoned up before heading to Kauai for our honeymoon next week [if the hurricane - which is supposed to hit the day we fly out - doesn't keep us stranded here. That would be sad.]. So for now I'll pick one manageable example of a detail that turned out exactly how I imagined it, and almost entirely without my involvement (magic).
Remember my ideas for a cake? I particularly liked the look of thick, uneven frosting, and roses in our coral color scheme. I wanted vanilla bean with a chocolate ganache filling, and buttercream frosting. And I got exactly that.

And from the bite that I had, it was delicious. I think that the part we saved probably won't taste great a year from now, but it'll be worth eating slightly-dried-out-cake to have a reason to think about this perfect detail from the perfect day.
anna. billy and I left our reception in such a rush and SO underfed. we went to a very pishy poshy hotel in dallas for our wedding night. I made him GO BACK and get me a piece of our own wedding cake. I was so unfulfilled. He did :) (and he has treated me as a princess ever since, and I love him for it).
ReplyDeletewedding cake is pretty much the most important thing. (shoot.... except for the dress, hair, and flowers.)
We totally only got a bite each of our cake too. Then we started giving cakes away to people (we had a cake as each table's centerpiece), and they started taking them. On our honeymoon, we realized that not only had we not had any of our cake, but that people had taken all of it. Eight months later, we learned that my mom had in fact saved two whole cakes for us... and they tasted amazing even a year later. I'm sure yours will, too. :)
