lakehouse

Our friend Brandon's parents have a lake house in South Carolina where we've spent three of the last four 4th of July's (on that skipped year there was wailing and gnashing of teeth). It's beautiful, relaxing, and just about the biggest change you can get from our day-to-day lives.

Unfortunately, this year it also stormed every single day, except for one.

Fortunately, a gorgeous log cabin with your friends is not a bad place to spend rainy days.

And then on our last day the sun came out! We stayed outside for about 10 hours, swam, threw the dogs in the lake (oh yeah - there were 9 dogs for 13 adults), went on a boat ride, read in the sun, and just squeezed our week worth of expected summer into one day. It was glorious. Against all odds, our standing invitation hasn't been rescinded, and for that we're supremely grateful.

Lake Keowee. Darcy and her boyfriend/twin, Odie. The house. House again (those windows!). Christi with the giant Jenga set that Brandon made. The lake view from the porch. Will - generally victorious. Our wonderfully patriotic bunk room. A very happy, and very exhausted pup (who's slept for two straight days now).
