ramblings - 5.6.13

- After a weekend of beautiful weather - perfect for the first wedding of the year! - this week promises cooler temps and lots o' rain. Fortunately, I found a pretty great tortellini soup recipe. Well I tweaked it a little...I don't trust crockpots still so I did it on the stovetop in less than 40 minutes, I skipped the cream cheese (because that just seems unnecessarily unhealthy), and then I added a little heavy cream (because the healthiness was a facade and I just don't like cream cheese). And it was dang good.

- I also made a little Texas sheet cake for no reason yesterday. What is a mini Texas sheet cake called? A Rhode Island sheet cake?

- Many people who have not been eating any-sized sheet cakes will be at the Met Gala tonight. If there are enough prettay prettay dresses, maybe we'll do a roundup tomorrow?

- Speaking of fashion, I pinned these paintings during the Downton season, and then forgot about them. Fingers crossed that Lady Mary wears something pretty tonight...I was kind of into her short gloves last year.

[That last dress is this Oscar de la Renta that I (and the rest of the world) fawned over as soon as it hit the runway...I think it's so cool that the artist could convey it without much detail.]

  2. I have to try that soup! I made a pinterest slow cooker tortellini one and it was HORRIBLE, as the slow cooker made it all just much together... I think I will like the stove top version better. ; )
