American royalty

I was talking to a friend recently about very lofty and important ideas (namely: those crazy Kardashians), and the conversation went something like this:

Friend: "You know what annoys me?  The fact that the Daily Mail (and other esteemed foreign news sources) were calling the Kardashian wedding 'America's Royal Wedding'.  They're not our royalty."

Me: "Agreed, my wise friend.  But what do you think would qualify as America's Royal Wedding?  And remember, we don't want to be completely embarrassed."

Friend [without hesitation]: "Lauren Bush and David Lauren."

Ooooh.  I like.  American political family with classic American entrepreneurial family.  I could buy this line of reasoning.  And besides, they wouldn't embarrass us:

Look at all the lovely.  Lace, elegance, and mountains.  Well done, America!
